Our Story

The Gastronauts Academy started in New York City in 2010 as a pop-up cooking school and quickly grew specializing in food and drink events blended with unique once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Founded by renowned chef and food educator Danny Boome, his vison has always been to inspire everyday home cooks and wannabe foodies to follow their passion and explore new tastes and experiences.

As we venture forward, we have chosen Rochester NY as our new home to host our new teaching kitchen, event space and media studio that will open in the summer of 2017. Why Rochester? Well, Rochester, NY is the gateway to possibly the most important food and drink region in North America. With the Finger Lakes at our door step, it is home to some of the best wineries, craft brewing and distilling, agriculture and coffee roasters in the country!

Furthermore, the state of New York happens to be the birth place of the North American wine industry and leading innovator of the fastest growing craft beer, spirits & coffee industry in the US, with an average of two breweries, one distillery and coffee roaster opening a month!

This is all perfectly surrounded by what can only be described as a nations pantry. At least 25% of NY State’s farming comes from within a 60-mile radius of our HQ in Rochester, which is farmed by the most passionate purveyors and champions of organic and sustainable farming. This unique location allows the Gastronausts Academy to tap into an array of leading taste makers, specialized food & drink combinations, guest chefs, mixologists and allowing our classes, courses and adventures to be truly ahead of the curve.
